Hydrofloaters icon
Hydrofloaters are a vehicular upgrade that made their debut in Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense. They are what appear to be a kit package consisting of floats and water jet skis, allowing safe navigation and preventing immediate drowning in large bodies of water. As with the other transformations, vehicles with the Hydrofloaters active will automatically eject them once the vehicle has taken enough damage. They are a jet shaped object found lying around the Alaskan, Florida, Louisiana and California stages.
Trivia[]
- If the player has the Hydrofloater upgrade on land, the vehicle will revert back to normal conditions after a few moments.
- In the Dreamcast version, pressing the gas button and the switch target button at the same time will cancel the Hydrofloaters upgrade, whereas in the Playstation and Nintendo 64 versions, both weapon switch buttons must be pressed at the same time instead.
- Similarly to the Hoverpods, the Hydrofloaters will mostly limit the vehicle's movement to 8 directions, but prioritize 4, leading to the vehicle moving diagonally, and nondiagonally. The vehicle will move slower when moving toward the former, but move faster when moving toward the latter.
- As with the other transformations, in the Dreamcast version specifically, the icon for them will blink to indicate to the player that they will have the Hydrofloaters ejected if their vehicle takes further damage, once their vehicle has taken enough damage. They will also be repaired upon touching another Hydrofloaters activator.
