Vigilante 8 Wiki
Flamethrower

The Flamethrower is the single newest basic weapon introduced in Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense. The weapon is placed face-forward on the front of the equipped vehicle, and any enemy that drives through it while it is in use is set ablaze for damage, as well as burn damage that continues to harm the victim for a short while. The weapon starts out with twenty rounds, in which ten rounds are used approximately every second, and is also useful for setting oil tracks on fire.

Shoots a fireball, which bounces twice, sending out waves of fire. Drops a puddle of oil that will affect the traction of any vehicle to drive through it. The puddle can affect any other vehicle as soon as the oil has landed, but does not affect the user's vehicle until 2 seconds have passed. Erects a stationary wall of fire in front of your vehicles. Cars that drive through the wall will catch on fire and burn for additional damage. Projectiles can also hit and be destroyed by the flames. The flame wall can damage any vehicle and structure as soon as it is active, but does not damage the user's vehicle until 1 second has passed.

Trivia[]

  • The Flamethrower was not present in Vigilante 8 or Vigilante 8: Arcade, but a weapon similar to it, Sid Burn's Breath of Fire, had the same function.
  • In the Dreamcast version of Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense, multiple projectiles drop from the Wall of Flame combo, each of which deal very high damage. The overall damage is enough to instantly destroy just about any vehicle and structure if every projectile hits.
    • In the other versions, there is no projectile (that, or it is minuscule or invisible) that appears to be fired out, leading to it not connecting to any other vehicle nor structure, and always landing on the ground instead.
  • The Flamethrower is the only standard weapon that doesn't provide recoil from firing it.
